Outstanding Finance?

Outstanding finance is one of the biggest risks facing a buyer of a used car. Of all the cars checked on the HPI system 24% have outstanding finance. If you acquire the vehicle with the finance still outstanding, you will not have legal title to the vehicle, nor will you be protected under the Sale Of Goods Act 1979. Written Off ?

Every year nearly half a million cars involved in accidents are declared by insurance companies to be too badly damaged to be repaired safely. On average 4 % of the car checked by HPI have at some point been written off. Stolen?

Many stolen vehicles go on to be ‘cloned’ to hide their true identity, and appear legitimate. A cloned car is one that has illegally taken the identity of a legitimately own one. This means there will be two or more (The met police once found eight with the same registration number) cars with the same make, model, colour and registration number, as well as chassis number. (Or VIN- Vehicle Identification Number)
