In today's world, cakes are a favored method to celebrate just about any occasion. Cake decorating ideas can be found just about anywhere, if you know where to look Even So, not everyone knows how to decorate a cake. Fortunately, there is a tremendous assortment of cake pans and items that will assist with making decorating cakes easy.

Before beginning, it is important to know what occasion to make your cake for. As an example, it would not look right to bring an Elmo birthday cake when going to a Saint Patrick's Day party. Once you know the occasion, the rest is simple.

ANIMALS

Consider using an animal pan Many occasions can be represented with an animal. For instance, a rabbit can symbolize Easter, a deer can be used for Christmas, and a cat cake can be used at Halloween.

Or, you can select from many popular character animals for birthdays. Currently fashionable animal characters include Blue the dog from Blue's Clues, Elmo and many of his friends from Sesame Street, and Boots the monkey and Swiper the fox from Dora the Explorer.

The ornaments on top of the cake can also include animals. Stores carry a great variety of small, plastic animals that you can purchase to decorate your cakes. This is an an outstanding way to create a zoo setting.

HOLIDAYS

Holidays are forever fun to make cakes for, and you can let your imagination go crazy. If nothing else, you can use colored sprinkles. You can add edible heart decoration sprinkles on cakes meant for Valentine's Day. Orange and black sprinkles are perfect for Halloween cakes, as are red and green sprinkles for Christmas cakes.

Decorative cake pans are available in designs specific to holidays that make them perfect for holiday cakes. Ghosts, Frankenstein, and other monsters are perfect for Halloween. Pumpkins will work for both Halloween and Thanksgiving cakes. Turkeys and cornucopias can also be used for Thanksgiving. Cherubs and heart pans are perfect for Valentine's Day. Rabbits and eggs are just right for Easter. Leprechauns, pots of gold, and rainbows pans are great for Saint Patrick's Day. All you need to do is use a cake pan or ornamental item particular to a holiday and start decorating a holiday cake.

vehicles

Boys seem to be born enamored with moving vehicles. There is just something about a vehicle that moves that enthralls boys. You can create cakes that showcase tractors, airplanes, boats, cars, dump trucks, fire engines, and helicopters. You can set vehicles into the frosting to create scenes with them. You can also add small building built from Lego's and Lego's people. Just make sure whatever you place on the cake will not be damaged by either the frosting or water from washing off the frosting from the vehicle or item.

YOUR IMAGINATION
Remember that your own imagination can be just as great, if not better than, manufactured pans and ideas. Chances are you come up with themes that no one else has thought of before. Your local arts and crafts store can be a wonderful place to get ideas and items that you can use for your own ideas.

Perhaps you are concerned that your efforts will not be very good. Please do not fear that you will not be able to come up with good cake decorating ideas. Your cakes do not have to be the perfect works of art seen at bakeries. They will be delicious regardless of how they look. Your efforts are certain be treasured, no matter how they turn out. So, decorate your cakes, then sit back and bask in the kudos you get from the people who enjoy the fruits (or, in this case, cakes) of your labor.
