Your flight landed an hour late. Now, you’ll be late for that important meeting. You can already imagine your customers sitting around a conference table waiting impatiently. You step to the front of the line at the car rental counter, with six other exasperated businessmen behind you who are late for their meetings, too. The rental agent plunks the contract down in front of you, and circles all the places on the contract that you’re supposed to sign or initial. Then she stares at you, as if to say, “Hurry up!” The print is small. The sentences are written in Legalese. You’d like to stop and read the fine print, but you can feel the people behind you getting more upset. You thought you were renting a car for .00 per day. “Do I need a capacitor?” This is a frequently asked question among car audio enthusiasts. To know if you really need one, you need to ask yourself what kind of a system you have in your car. Many car enthusiasts upgrade their car audio systems without making sure that their cars can handle these high powered equipments. Since most cars aren’t equipped to handle high powered systems, you might need a capacitor to prevent any problems in your car or your sound system.

What is a car capacitor?

Capacitors store electrical energy similar to any car battery, however, they don’t produce its own power. The main purpose of capacitors is to store power which will be released on when your car amplifier asks for it.

Remote Car Starter Buying Guide

Remote Car Starter Buying Guide

My store has been installing Remote Car Starters since the early 1990s. This experience has taught us what is important in a quality remote starter installation. With the cold season almost upon us, we thought it would be a good time to post our Top 10 List (in no particular order):

10. Warranty

The actual remote starter brain should be warrantied for as long as you own the car. Many quality companies offer this. If they do not, it is a possible sign of inferior equipment. Before you run out and file a claim with your auto insurance company, it pays to think through all the variable involved with making a claim. For example if you had someone come and break your side vehicle window, first check to see what your deductible is. If your deductible is over 0 you would be better off taking your car to an auto glass repair shop and getting a quote. If the quote to fix the window is less than 0, don’t bother filing a claim and fix the window yourself.
